Where The Hell Is Matt?

This clip is people dancing in different countries with Matt being in all of the countries where the people were dancing.I still do not have a clear idea of what this means and what it has got to do with our project but a few suggestions came to my mind when I reflected on the clip.

I thought this clip might of had to do with the Beijing Olympics as he was in all of the countries who were participating in the Olympics.Even though it showed a meaning of familiy, that did not really give me an idea of why it was suited for this particular time of this project. Also it would cost a lot for Matt to get to each country so that is something to consider when watching this film.

Reflective Journal 5-Media and Ethics

  • What influences your values about issues relating to your life?

  • Do you ever compare images/values presented by the media to those of the bible? If so why? If not why not?
I do not compare images presented by the media often because I do not refer to the bible in my life enough which is a negative thing for me.I often think that the media gives me relevant and updated views unlike the bible which is unmoral for me.
  • Has this project challenged you to examine your values? Why / Why not
  • It has challenged me to look for my values because I have just realised that a lot of my views are shaped by media and I need to change that and think from a different point of view as what we did today with comparing the two pictures. One of them being happy Africans while the other was unlucky boy from Australia who has had a bad past.

Reflective Journal 4-Media and Ethics

  • How do you feel the media portrays social justice issues?

I believe the media portrays most social justice issues in a negative aspects always reporting that bad that is goin in the world today that is a social justice issue.

  • Has it been difficult to find articles on social justice issues why/why not?

it actually has been pretty easy to find social justice issues because social justices issu.es revolve around our society

  • Do you think that the media operates from a moral framework? Give evidence by using your research.

The media does not report from a moral framework because they do not care if the stories they provide are moral or not. They just care about the money they get by enticing the viewers to view their side of the story. One example is the Tim Smith Saga that went on earlier this year.It was stated that Tim Smith was in a pub with letting the people making their own judgement which most people would of thought he was drinking beer.

1. Open and read the “How to write a critique” document in the resources menu.

Describe what is a critique.
A critique involves identifying critical things to say about an article and resisting the temptation to describe rather than analyse.
2. Outline the FOUR stages in a critique.

·         An introduction (which directs the reader’s attention to the publication and your response to it)

·         A summary of the article

·         Your analysis or critical commentary on the original text

·         Your evaluation or conclusion

3. Can a critique be positive? Discuss.
The aim of a critique is to point out the factors in a particular article.By that it does not always have to be negative because their might be some positive aspects of the artice which we can state in the critique.
4. Critique the accuracy of the following articles:

Reflective Journal 1- Ethics and the Media

1. Describe TWO things that you have learnt during this lesson.
Two things I have learnt in this is the way the media change parts of stories so tha we believe what they say word for word in the media’s opinion. The other thing I have learnt is that different media portray different sides of stories as was it shown today when changing the stories and seeing which one was true and which one was false.
2. Identify TWO areas you want to concentrate on during this project that you think need a greater improvement from the last project.
One area I will need to concentrate on in this project is to always refer to the need to know list because if we refer to it we get all the answers we need to know that would help us complete the project. The other thing I need improvement on is completing all my individual tasks as in the other project I did not which costed me critical marks and denied me a better mark.
3. Discuss TWO ways in which your group could resolve any disputes during this process.

We can resolve disputes and arguments in the group by tasks always being completed on time causing no fuss and the other is that evryone has to work as a team while if someone is not that is when trouble and the arguments start to come.
